IFT Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Bavik was one of the keynote speakers at the 4th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo. The 3-day event took place at the Venetian Macao integrated resort in September.

Dr. Bavik spoke about the growing phenomenon of independent travellers from Mainland China. His presentation was part of a seminar on the analysis of new trends among independent travellers in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 4th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo was supported by the China National Tourism Administration. The expo was organised for the first time by the Macao Government Tourism Office, with the assistance of the Macau Travel Agency Association. The event took up 6,800 square metres of floor space, which was occupied by 370 booths representing nearly 200 enterprises and other entities from 28 countries and regions. The organisers say the latest expo attracted about 32,000 visitors, 6.7 percent more than one year earlier.
