The IFT Chamber Music Club and the Macau Ensemble Association hosted a joint street concert on 2 June. The event took place in the plaza in front of the historic St. Frances Xavier’s Chapel, in the heart of old Coloane Village, a popular destination for visitors and Macao residents alike.
The concert was planned around 10 distinct pieces of music and lasted circa 60 minutes. It attracted dozens of bystanders, including tourists and locals. A number of IFT faculty members and students also joined the event.
Highlights included a solo performance by Wendy Zhang, a Year 2 student in the programme leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Event Management. IFT Lecturer Ms. Hilda Fok delivered her first-ever solo performance as a member of the IFT Chamber Music Club.
Ms. Fok was the driving force behind the establishment of the ensemble in 2014.
Other club members performing included IFT students Yilia Gao, Cherry Huang, Wendy Zhang, Katrina Jin and Mariah He. IFT alumni Mr. Anson Lai and Ms. Athena Sio also took part in the concert as performers.
