Talk at IFT with CPPCC Shanghai Committee members

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

Two Macao-based members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee recently took part in a talk at IFT, with the aim of strengthening the sense of national identity among Macao’s youth.

CPPCC members have been regularly visiting a number of local secondary schools and higher education institutions in order to promote national education. The programme was launched in 2018 and is organised by the Associação de Amizade de Membros da Conferência Consultiva Política do Povo Chinês na Instância de Província de Macau.

The IFT session took place on 25 April at the Mong-Há Campus Amphitheatre, and attracted around 60 participants, including IFT staff members and students. CPPCC Shanghai Committee members Ms. Ngan Iek Peng and Mr. Jacky Ng Kuan attended the event as guest speakers.

Ms. Ngan heads the youth committee of the association organising the event. Mr. Ng is an instructor at IFT’s Tourism and Hotel School.

The talk allowed students to improve their knowledge regarding the role and functions of the CPPCC. The moderator of the event was IFT Student Union Vice-President Ms. Lao Hou Cheng. She says the exchange was very interesting, allowing attendees to learn a lot from the speakers.

“The 2 CPPCC members encouraged us to grasp the opportunities arising from the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as to contribute to the betterment of society and the country,” she says.
