IFT Summer Camp a hit with Mainland, HK school pupils

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

A total of 23 high school students from Hong Kong and Mainland China travelled to Macao in July to attend the 2017 IFT Summer Camp. That represented an increase of more than 40 percent as compared to the number of participants in the 2016 summer camp.

The IFT Summer Camp is held annually for secondary school students from outside Macao who are enrolled in Form 4 or above. The 2017 camp took place from 16 to 22 July.

Participants stated the benefits of the summer camp include the chance to get valuable information about the study programmes offered at IFT. It also helps them to have a better understanding of the tourism industry and the career paths available in this sector, and assists them in their decision-making process for tertiary education studies.

The theme of this year’s summer camp was “Knowing Macao’s Tourism and Hospitality Industry”. The participants explored the Institute facilities and met IFT academics and undergraduates. Other activities included seminars and classes giving participants a taste of student life and education at the Institute.

The 2017 IFT Summer Camp included several field trips, which helped participants to know more about the latest tourism trends in Macao. The field trips included a site visit to Wynn Palace, one of the city’s newest integrated resorts, where participants observed the operations of a large-scale tourism and leisure property.

The participants also visited some museums and historical places better to understand the history and culture of Macao. They visited the Maritime Museum, the Macao Museum, the A-Má Temple and the Taipa-Houses Museum.
