IFT undergraduates compete for first time in AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

IFT entered the annual AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge for the first time in November. The contest for students is run by the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA) and is meant to develop talent eager to join the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry.

The latest contest took place in Xiamen in Fujian Province, Mainland China. It was the biggest AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge yet, with 15 teams from 10 countries and regions in Asia taking part. Contestants had to prepare a business plan that exploited the strengths of their home base as a MICE destination.

The IFT team was represented by Year 4 undergraduates Bella Huang, Tom Huang, Jessica Liu and October Shi. Their presentation was called “A Cultural Kaleidoscope Incentive Travel Programme: The Macanese Experience”. They proposed a tour package for incentive travel that emphasised Macao’s East-meets-West culture and heritage.
