IFTM’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) recently organised a week-long train-the-trainer course at Zunyi Guizhou Hotel in Guizhou Province, for the hotel industry role of front desk agent.

The programme, aimed at staff from the locality’s Guizhou Hotel Group, utilised the Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System (MORS) as a benchmark. The latter is a comprehensive training and certification scheme developed by IFTM in collaboration with the European Union, covering a variety of job categories in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The course was headed by IFTM expert Mr. Kurma Mac Seac Kuong, Coordinator for Hospitality Courses at the School of Continuing Education, and attracted 34 participants.

The opening ceremony on 13 November featured Mr. Guo Weiyi, Chairman and General Manager of Guizhou Hotel Group. He emphasised the pivotal role of front desk staff in shaping guests’ initial impressions of the overall service quality of a hotel. He stressed the significance of high-quality professional training to ensure customer satisfaction.

Earlier this year, IFTM forged a partnership with Guizhou Hotel Group, aiming to establish a base for nurturing talent in the cultural and tourism service sectors in western China. The collaboration aims to contribute to positioning the region as a world-class tourism destination.

For more than a decade, IFTM has actively promoted the adoption of MORS standards across various regions of Mainland China. Collaborative efforts with partners in Guangdong Province have resulted in IFTM hosting numerous MORS training courses and assessment sessions spanning multiple job categories.
