IFTM provides in Guangdong train-the-trainer MORS course on bartending

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese
In its ongoing commitment to promotion of MORS standards across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, IFTM hosted a train-the-trainer course in bartending at the Guangdong Province Technician College of Light Industry

Two instructors from IFTM’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) recently conducted a train-the-trainer course in bartending for participants from the Guangdong Province Technician College of Light Industry.

The programme spanned more than 2 months and was based on the Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System (MORS). The latter is a training and certification scheme developed by IFTM in collaboration with the European Union, and covers various job categories in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The bartending trainer course started in September and attracted 20 participants, all of whom successfully completed the theoretical and practical assessments.

IFTM experts Mr. Kurma Mac Seac Kuong and Mr. Edwyn Tam Chi Fai oversaw the course.

In a ceremony in November marking the conclusion of the training, Mr. Zhou Zhikui, President of the Guangdong Province Technician College of Light Industry, expressed gratitude to the IFTM instructors for their support. Mr. Zhou said he hoped for further collaboration and strengthened exchanges between IFTM and the college.

College representatives emphasised the positive impact of the course on the professional skills of participants, contributing to the elevation of qualification standards within the tourism and hospitality industry across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

MORS, a long-standing initiative of IFTM’s School of Continuing Education, focuses on certifying staff skills for frontline jobs in the hotel and tourism industry. The MORS bartender training course offers a comprehensive curriculum, ranging from knowledge about various alcoholic drinks to honing skills related to client service provision.

For over a decade, IFTM has been actively promoting the adoption of MORS standards throughout the Greater Bay Area. Collaborative efforts with partners in Guangdong Province have resulted in the hosting of various MORS training courses and assessment sessions across multiple job categories.

The establishment in 2019 of the Tourism Professional Education Alliance of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with IFTM as a founding member, has further promoted the integration of MORS-format standards in Guangdong. The alliance facilitates exchanges of staff, resources, and information, fostering a collaborative ecosystem within the tourism industry across the Greater Bay Area.
