IFTM student won men’s sabre category at 2020/2021 Macau University Fencing Championship

IFTM Year 1 student Jerry Zhou Dongheng came first in the men’s sabre category of the 2020/2021 Macau University Fencing Championship. The event took place on 17 and 18 October 2020 at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.

The tournament was organised by the Macau Universitarian Sports Association and co-organised by the Fencing Association of Macao, China.

Six competition categories, 3 for men and 3 for women, were featured at the event. Five higher education institutions joined the tournament, including IFTM, City University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, the University of Macau and the University of Saint Joseph.

It was the first time Jerry Zhou entered the sabre category in a competition. He expressed excitement at winning in the category. He was also proud of representing IFTM at the competition, as well as bringing glory to the Institute.

IFTM students are encouraged to get involved in various extracurricular activities, ranging from sports to voluntary work in the community. The purpose is to broaden the horizons of students, expand their social networks and build up their self-confidence, as well as enrich their experience of academic life at the Institute.
