Members of the IFTM Wine Appreciation Club, an affiliated organisation of the IFTM Student Union, were invited by integrated resort operator Wynn Macau Ltd to participate in a series of events tied to the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards. The group seized the opportunity to enhance their understanding of wine via masterclasses delivered by two authoritative wine experts and authors, focusing respectively on Chinese and French wine.

On 3 March, Ms. Janet Wang, renowned wine critic and author, inspired the students with her masterclass, titled “Journey to the West: Chinese Wine’s Global Footprint, Impact & Potential”. The session by Ms. Wang covered details about the history and evolution of Chinese wine and its acknowledgement by a global audience.

Ms. Wang’s critically acclaimed book “The Chinese Wine Renaissance” was shortlisted for the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards Wine Book 2019, also known as the ‘Oscars of the international wine industry’. The book won the 2020 Gourmand Awards’ World Wine category.

On 4 March, Ms. Jane Anson, widely acknowledged as the world’s foremost Bordeaux expert and the author of the wine guide “Inside Bordeaux”, hosted a masterclass titled “Inside Bordeaux 2014 Vintage: 10 Years On”. This session provided IFTM students with insights into one of the most prestigious wine regions globally.

The interaction between the students and the two acclaimed authors extended beyond the masterclasses. Both experts engaged with the IFTM group and presented its members with signed copies of some of their publications.
