IFTM Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Greater Bay Area holds its first training programme

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area held its first training course on 9 January on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, in Guangdong Province.

About 80 trainees took the day-long course on hotel management, including managers of major hotels in Zhuhai and tourism teachers.

IFTM President Dr. Fanny Vong attended the opening of the course. She said the event was the starting point in a new dimension of cooperation between Macao and Zhuhai in tourism education and training.

Some of the trainees remarked on how few opportunities there are for people working in Zhuhai to learn from the experience of Macao in international hospitality management, in spite of the proximity of the cities. They said more opportunities would help develop the hospitality industry in Zhuhai.

The IFTM Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is jointly run by IFTM, the Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and Zhuhai Municipal Zhu Kuan Group Holdings Co., Ltd. The partners formally agreed to set up the centre last October, with IFTM coordinating the work of the centre.

The centre offers educational programmes to help develop tourism in the Greater Bay Area by enhancing the qualifications and skills of people working in tourism and arranging exchanges.
