Joining Forces: IFTM Collaborates Internationally with Renowned Higher Education Institutions

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

IFTM places global prominence in setting the agenda for tourism education and research, offering opportunities via cooperation agreements and programmes with different international leading institutions, allowing students to earn excellent qualifications for future career development in the world of tourism and hospitality.

IFTM has signed a new articulation agreement with two leading Swiss institutions, Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE) and Les Roches Global Hospitality Education (Les Roches), to provide a top-up study plan to students of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management following a “3+1” learning model. Upon successful completion of the first 3 years at IFTM and the stipulated requirements of GIHE or Les Roches in any campus (Switzerland, Spain or United Kingdom), students can obtain the bachelor’s degree awarded by IFTM and that awarded by GIHE or Les Roches.

The link-up allows IFTM and the two internationally renowned higher education leaders to create a unique opportunity to collaborate and enrich the academic journey of the students. Students under this dual bachelor programme will enjoy a year of cutting-edge academic and teaching excellence in tourism, hotel and event management provided by GIHE or Les Roches.

GIHE and Les Roches are under the Sommet Education group and ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the QS World University Rankings by Subjects 2022 for “Hospitality and Leisure Management.” In the academic year 2022/2023, 4 IFTM students are undertaking this dual bachelor programme in the Spain Campus of Les Roches.

Besides, IFTM has invited two guest speakers, Mr. Kavi Khemlani, Hospitality Consultant, and Ms. Veronica Yin, Regional Administration Manager of Sommet Education, to hold several briefing sessions on this [3+1 Dual Bachelor Programme] to interested students, providing more ideas and advice for them prior to further registration.

‘Through this session, I obtained a lot of valuable information,’ said senior student Wang Runqing. ‘These two schools are not only able to provide students with professional knowledge, but also broaden our horizon of the development of the hospitality industry in different parts of the world. For me, I think this is a very good opportunity and I am grateful to IFTM for providing such a wonderful educational environment for us!’

‘IFTM has provided us with many resources and opportunities to not only improve our field of study, but also make our learning experience in university more diverse and fruitful,’ a comment made by Hilbert, a sophomore student.

Another agreement was made with a long-term partner of IFTM, The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. The Institute has extended its cooperation with UQ Business School by signing a [1+1 Dual Master’s Programme] agreement in December 2022, offering eligible students from IFTM to transfer credits and complete UQ Master of Tourism, Hotel and Event Management degree while simultaneously completing IFTM master’s degree, in as short as two years. UQ ranks in the world’s top universities, including 50th in the 2023 QS World University Rankings, and 53rd in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022, UQ is 8th in the world for Hospitality and Tourism Management. By joining the programme, students can increase their global connectivity and enjoy the combined resources and environments from both leading education providers.

IFTM believes that with the existing, as well as the upcoming cooperation agreements with various leading institutions all over the world, IFTM students are able to enhance both learning development and international exposure in their quest for becoming highly-valued talents in this global industry.
