中文版本 / Chinese version

All students taking part in the first IFTM-held Arts Graded Examination of China have passed the assessment, receiving the highly sought-after certificate from the China Art Science Technology Research Institute.

IFTM held its first Arts Graded Examination of China on 3 November last year. The Sketch (Grade 3) examination was for secondary-school students taking the Graphic Design Programme offered jointly by IFTM and the Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional. A total of 17 candidates sat the exam.

After it, the students’ sketches were submitted to the China Art Science Technology Research Institute for assessment. It has since been announced that all the work was evaluated positively, and each participant was awarded a Certificate of Arts Graded Examination of China for Sketch (Grade 3).

The Arts Graded Examination of China system is promoted by the China Art Science Technology Research Institute, a body under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. It was launched in 2004, and includes exams across a range of skills and skill grades. Examinations are divided in 3 major categories – Chinese-style painting, Chinese calligraphy, and Western-style painting – which are subdivided in a total of 11 skills, with the possibility of sitting an exam at a variety of grades for each skill.

The aim of the Arts Graded Examination of China is to help advance art education and mastery of artistic skills. It also contributes to setting national standards for art.

Since November 2019, the IFTM School of Continuing Education has been authorised to teach courses to prepare candidates to sit the Arts Graded Examination of China. That is part of the Institute’s efforts further to strengthen its offering in the field of creative studies, contributing to the development of the arts in Macao.

The Institute is also registered as a place for sitting exams under the Arts Graded Examination of China. The current registration is valid for the 2020-2021 period.

The Arts Graded Examination of China system is recognised nationally, including among higher education institutions in Mainland China. Renowned artists are often invited to join the panels evaluating the artwork submitted for assessment under the system.
