‘Terra Madre 2017’ event advocates healthy eating habits

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

On 12 May, a group of Year 2 students from the Tourism Event Management Bachelor Degree Programme organised an educational catering event for Primary 5 students of the Macau Anglican College. The event was designed to teach them habits of healthy eating and an understanding of food sustainability. The activity was hosted in partnership with the Macau Slow Food Association.

The initiative – named “Terra Madre”, Italian for “Mother Earth” – was inspired by the international slow food movement. The movement aims to promote an alternative to fast food, striving to protect traditional cuisine and encourage healthy lifestyles based on healthy food.

The educational project involved a total of 100 children.

The IFT students were also responsible for raising funds to cover the costs of the project. The remaining funds – totalling MOP7,951 – were donated to the Fuhong Society of Macau in support of its work alongside people with mental disabilities.
