Course Code CHM3002
Credits 3.00
Hours / Week 3

Heritage interpretation makes heritage meaningful to people. It also helps achieve several cultural heritage management (CHM) and visitor management objectives, including promoting appropriate visitor behaviour, developing support for heritage, and sharing tourism benefits with host communities. However, proper and effective interpretation requires adherence to certain principles, careful planning and effective delivery/presentation of interpretative materials. This course will discuss the fundamental principles of heritage interpretation and their application in practice through detailed interpretative planning. It will outline the concepts and strategies currently employed in best practice interpretation and presentation and discuss specific cases in detail.
