This course covers basic economic concepts with emphasis on issues of relevance to students across the range of tourism related majors offered at IFT. The course is divided into three sections as follows: Introduction to microeconomics; introduction to macroeconomics; introduction to international economics.

After completing this subject, students should have achieved the following:

1: A basic understanding of the workings of a market economy through the interaction of demand and supply.

2: A basic understanding of the principles of the macro-economy, including the goal of economic growth, and the problems of inflation and unemployment, and government policies.

Most importantly, students should be familiar with unique features of the Macau economy.
