The course introduces the full range of contemporary theoretical knowledge and practical skills of communicating ideas and information through visual media. Through lectures, case studies and in-class exercises, it explains the basic principles of visual communication, communication theories, perception theories and aesthetics. The students will also learn to analyse the effectiveness of different media and produce visual communication media using various digital tools. The emphasis will be on creating two-dimensional media, including infographics, information panels, posters, and print materials using Adobe and other relevant software. Basics of visual storytelling through short videos will be introduced as well.
