The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been established as a part of China’s national strategy. It is expected to have a far-reaching impact beyond the regional boundaries by creating vast opportunities for entrepreneurs, technicians and skilled workers in diverse fields. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the region’s history, culture, development, and governance systems and their links to current and emerging trends and issues related to Macao’s culture, tourism, and hospitality industry. The knowledge gained in this course provides students with the foundation to understand the socio-cultural-economic context within which the region’s economic activities occur. The course is divided into three parts: (1) History and Culture of Macao [15 hours] (2) National Constitution, Macao Basic Law and Macao Tourism Law [12 hours] (3) Greater Bay Area and Macao [18 hours].
