As Macao is rapidly developing its Sports Tourism Product, this course has been developed to study the process of how Macao is developing its sports tourism product. This course provides students with an introduction to the skill essential to generate a sports event in Macao as well as the importance of issues of venue management, risk assessment and management from a sports perspective. This course will look at the bidding process for large international events, the planning procedures, development procedures, financing and management of sporting events from a local scale to an international event. This course will also evaluate past sporting events from around the world, such as the Olympic games held in Athens and Sydney, along with other key sporting events. This course also includes an examination of the social, economic and environmental impacts of sporting events on the host community.
