This course provides an introduction to international business, and is intended to complement other subjects within students’ major areas of study. After completing this subject students should have knowledge of the following:

1: Understand the importance of international trade and globalization in the modern business environment.

2: Appreciate differing cultural, economic, legal and political systems and the influence of such differences on international business opportunities.

3: Understand the history and development of trade theory.

4: Be aware of current international and regional trade agreements and trading blocks.

5: Know about different exchange rate systems and how exchange rates are determined.

6: Know how international transactions are recorded in balance of payment accounts.

7: Throughout the course, students are encouraged to see the problems associated with international trade as well as the benefits.
