The objectives are to:

- Initiate and expose freshmen students to the workings and realities of professional life in the different aspects of the tourism industry;

- Help new students gain confidence, expertise and social skills in interacting with tourists, guests and customers in a front-line setting;

- Immerse students into the demands, hands-on operations and skill-requirements of success in the tourism industry and help them gain an appreciation for it. And, most importantly,

- Generate and sustain the interest of first-year students in pursuing a career in the tourism industry and challenge them to make creative and lasting contributions to its development.

History of Macau

Macau is the earliest territory of China that was opened to the rest of the world during the Ming and the Qing dynasties.  By attending this course, the participants will gain a general understanding about the historical evolutions of this city, the uniqueness of our colonial history as well as several major historical events that took place in Macau.

Structural System

Structure keeps building stand. The course introduces some principal structural systems applied since ancient time to our era. Students may learn basic notions and understand the comportment of each system.

Architectural drawing:

Architectural technicians communicate frequently with drawing. The course will introduce basic knowledge about architectural drawing for heritage students, so that they may read and understand architectural documents, also capable to communicate by hand drawing.

History of Architecture:

The course provides an outline of the history of architecture from the early Greek and Chinese societies to the present. Students will learn to read the architectural and historical clues that are embedded in every building, exploring the key characteristics of structures dating from early times to today.  Students will learn how to identify any building and put it in historical context by developing critical tools for the analysis of architectural styles and structural elements.
