This course introduces the fundamental principles affecting the contemporary retail business. As an introductory course, it will follow the flow of retailing process introduces essential retailing principles in a retail operation. Specific retailing management principles: determination of target market, location analysis, merchandising and store operation will be discussed. Student will be equipped with the theories and practical knowledge of how to start a retail business or managing a retail operation. Both operation theories and practical applications are investigated through the use of readings, cases study, site visit, guest speaker’s lecture and projects.
