As an introductory course, it provides a basic understanding of the structure, nature and operating characteristics of the tourism industry. This course presents a comprehensive overview of the various components of tourism. Emphasis is placed on assisting students to develop a good, general understanding regarding why this big industry is important and how it is organized and administered. A wide range of basic concepts and methods are also introduced and explained, which would lay a firm foundation for students’ further studies in subsequent years.
