09/07/2021 051/REL/RP/2021

To support local cultural and creative industry development and enrich the cultural life of the citizens, the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) hosts “Cloisonné Artworks – Art Exhibition by Lei Sio Fan and His Students”, showcasing the cloisonné craft paintings by Mr. Lei Sio Fan and his students. General public is invited to visit the exhibition at the Team Building of IFTM’s Mong-Há Campus from 9 July to 8 October 2021.

IFTM provides various cultural and creative courses to citizens and professionals. From 2016 to 2020, IFTM had offered the “Souvenir Design and Production Series – Cloisonné Craft Painting” which enjoyed wide popularity among students. The Institute will continuously provide various kinds of cloisonné craft painting courses in the future to provide an opportunity for the public to learn alternative art media.

The combination of gold wires, rugged cut stones, bright colors and sophisticated craftsmanship constitutes a piece of quaint and elegant handicraft which is also noble and gorgeous – a cloisonné craft painting. Most paintings are brightly colored, dynamic and three-dimensional, with contents revolving around humanity, geography, customs and religions. Showcasing 54 hand-made works by Mr. Lei Sio Fan and his students, the exhibition creatively combines traditional craftsmanship and modern art, demonstrating students’ aesthetic thinking of reflecting daily life through their artworks. Besides, students go to great lengths to present the creation spirit of “reproducing traditions” with their professional skills.

IFTM has been pursueing cooperation with local artists and designers to organise exhibitions, integrating art into the lives of citizens.
