Seminar on “Research Ethics and Integrity”
To welcome the new cohort of doctoral students, the IFTM Academic Council Special Committee for Research (SCR) organised a seminar on “Research Ethics and Integrity” on 15 September 2023 (Friday) at Taipa campus. Around 25 PhD students attended the seminar.
The SCR members shared knowledge and ideas with both new and existing PhD students on the following topics:
- Introduction & Importance of research ethics and integrity
- Protection of study participants, sampling selection, deception in research, duty to refer, forms of conflict of interest
- Data ownership and sharing, bias and fraud in data collection and analysis
- Publication ethics, authorship, concerns about duplicate or fragmented publication, understanding and preventing plagiarism, use of AI
- Working and communicating effectively with your supervisors and collaborating with other research project teams
- Applying for ethical approval
