Culinary Arts Management Professional Sharing Session: Exploring the Pathway to Employment

On 7 November 2023, Dr. Yen Nee CHRISTY Ng, the Culinary Arts Management Programme coordinator at IFTM, organized a career-sharing session for all Culinary Arts Management students. The session featured three IFTM Culinary Arts Management programme graduates who graduated in 2015. These graduates included Otília Rodrigues Novo, who is the Assistant Manager for F&B Academy at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace; Ruan Xiaohe (Joe), Manager of  Product Design at Xiamen Airlines, and Lao Kai Hou (Gaston), Sous Chef at Don Alfonso 1890, at Grand Lisboa Palace.

During the session, the three graduates provided detailed insights into their respective careers, sharing their work experiences and offering advice to the younger students. They emphasized the importance of making clear career choices, continuously acquiring new knowledge, improving overall skills, and maintaining a passionate attitude toward their chosen profession.

Students actively engaged throughout the sharing session regarding their career development, seeking advice on various aspects such as the necessary knowledge for food research and development, the challenges of starting up a restaurant business, and the potential for career advancement in the catering industry. Three students who had firsthand experience in these areas shared their insights and patiently exchanged ideas with their peers. It is evident from this exchange that these three students possess exceptional expertise in their respective fields, demonstrating their strong foundation in professional knowledge and effective communication skills. This achievement can be attributed not only to the dedication and hard work of the graduates themselves but also to the success of IFTM's professional training model in Culinary Arts Management Programme.
