On October 31 and November 6, 2023, students of IFTM’s Hotel Management Bachelor's Degree Programme went to Sheraton Grand Macao and The St. Regis Macao for a field trip. Dr. Yan Io led the class of Hotel Management year 2 to the hotel. There are three sections in the field trip. First, the host introduced the history and situation of Sheraton and St. Regis hotels to students and then introduced their hotel management trainee project named Voyager Program. Second, the students were guided to walk around the hotel facilities including the lobby, Jazz bar, and guest rooms. In the third section, the students learned about the cooking process of the Portuguese seafood rice and tasted it. During the coffee break, the hotel managers from the operational departments such as the Housekeeping and Front office approached our students and chatted with them about the career development in hospitality and hotel operations.
This field trip gave students a very good learning experience and improved their knowledge of hospitality. Students said it was a fresh and interesting way to learn more about different aspects of the hotel management style and operations and understand how to run a hotel in reality. The students also actively discussed their career development with the hotel managers, and the hotel host was impressed by our students and their active learning attitude. The field trip has lasted for 2.5 hours in total.
