SHM students expand their horizons in the City of Angels

Loosely translated as ‘City of Angels’ from Krungthep, its original name in Thai, Bangkok is one of the most modern and inclusive cities in Asia, firmly rooted in its rich culture and traditions. Four students from the BSc in Tourism Event Management programme visited Bangkok, Thailand to expand their horizons with university students from all over Asia. The students  James Zhang, Evan Huang, Tina Kwok and Ryan Pan  toured around the capital and visited key attractions such as the Grand Palace and Jim Thompson House Museum.

The students were one of the two teams invited and supported by the Macao Convention & Exhibition Association to represent Macao SAR in the AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. The students presented their proposed project ‘Macao International Stage Design Development Forum 2025’, which aims to bring together experts, designers and producers in stage design and performance industry from around the world to Macao. The students were able to learn from other teams, exchange ideas and network with students from 11 regions and countries from Asia.

In addition to accompanying students to the AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge, Dr Ubaldino Couto visited the Chulalongkorn University to discuss collaborations between these two highly ranked institutions in Asia. Dr Pinraj Khanjanusthiti, former Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Programme Director of the Master of Arts in Cultural Management warmly received Dr Couto and discussed at length IFTM and Chulalongkorn University working together at different levels, particularly for the newly-established master’s degree programmes in events management.
