Due to its unique historical background and advantageous location, Macao has always been a place of intercultural exchange, creating a unique society characterized by its multi-cultural diversity. Macao’s ethnic, religious, and language diversities have roots extending far and wide into all corners of the globe, enriching the city’s well-known Cantonese and Portuguese heritage with the cultures and customs of Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

Saturday’s student-led event uncovers and shares with the public the hidden and surprising gems of Macao’s cultural diversities through a program consisting of short videos, cultural mappings, discussion, and an interactive website.

Everyone from all the diverse cultural communities of Macao, as well as anyone who loves Macao heritage and wishes to explore further our city’s rich heritage, is invited to attend and participate in this public celebratory event, whether in person or online. Guests will be welcome to share their insights and experiences on any and all topics of Macao cultural diversity and will have the opportunity to interact informally with representatives of many of Macao’s unique cultural communities face to face.

The event will be streamed to the public online, providing a valuable opportunity for people all over the world to understand the diverse culture in Macao.
