IFT and the UNESCO-ICCROM Asian Academy for Heritage Management developed the "Cultural Heritage Specialist Guide Training and Certification Programme and the Cultural Tourism Sites Management Training of Trainers" in the Asia-Pacific. The purpose is to equip and enhance the skills that heritage guides and site managers needed to succeed in their workplace.

The regional seminar was organised to assess the regional training programme at the national level, share best practices and augment long-term commitment to the project. The seminar also evaluated the impact of the project and the effectiveness of the training materials.

Delegates from Cambodia, Lao, Thailand and Vietnam reported their progress in implementing the training since IFT trainers conducted the last training session in their country. All participants expressed enthusiasm to continue the programme and they were also satisfied with the training materials, curriculum and delivery methods.

Our experts, Dr Sharif Shams Imon and Mr Ong Chin Ee, and other trainers shared their experience in pioneering the training programme in our city, Macao. They explained the implementation stages, development of site modules, the challenges and issues in local languages translations and the conferment requirements for the UNESCO CHSG recognition.
