IC-IFT Public Forum: Building Fabric and Urban Regeneration

Striking a balance between heritage protection and development in historic urban areas was a complicated issue. The forum featured distinguished professors from renowned universities to share their ideas on this issue.

  1. Dr Chang Shenglin, Associate Professor of the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning at National Taiwan University, and Mr Wu Jin-Yung, an Architect and the Project Leader in National Taiwan University, discussed issues related to the redevelopment of a run-down area in Taipei.
  2. Professor Gong Kai from the Architecture Department at Southeast University shared a research project on urban regeneration in Huizhou in Anhui Province. He was also a registered first-class architect and the Director of Gong Kai Studio.
  3. Professor Wang Lu from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University examined a case related to the theme. He has published five books, and his papers have been published in more than 40 national and international academic journals.
  4. Professor Wang Weijen from the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong presented the transformation of urban architecture of urban architecture in Beijing.
  5. Professor Zhang Lei from the School of Architecture at Nanjing University shared his experience in this field.
