The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies continues its effort to bring greater relevance to students’ learning by establishing industrial projects to serve local entrepreneurs, SMEs and businesses. This mode of learning helps to create better relationship between higher education and the industry to generate mutual benefit.

The entrepreneurship course led by Dr. Fernando Lourenço aims to introduce practical tools related to business startup, motivate students towards entrepreneurial career and most importantly develop enterprising skills and attitudes. Recently, year-four students engaged in a project where they helped a new startup called LESS IS MORE that aims to offer environmentally friendly product to stimulate lifestyle change and healthier living in the city. In this project, students had to pick a product from LESS IS MORE, research the market and later develop a story in the form of a storyboard that aims to depict the quality of their selected product and educate the target market about the benefit of lifestyle change associated to their chosen product.

The founders of LESS IS MORE, Rachel Wong and Ken Ha, were very impressed with the research outputs as well as the concepts generated from the project. It gave them lots of new ideas, inspiration and direction to lead their future efforts in promoting sustainable lifestyle and to create a bigger market in the city.
